FAQ

Is a dedicated server needed?

Recommended. The domain controller is best placed on a dedicated server or virtual machine. For fault tolerance — two controllers.

Does it work with Linux/Mac?

Yes, via LDAP or Samba. Mac devices can connect directly. Linux — via SSSD or Winbind.

What if the AD server goes down?

With two domain controllers — nothing will happen, automatic failover. That's why we always install at least two.
